Exterior Painting
Wells Painting scrapes, sands, primes and paints house exteriors across Cincinnati's east side, including large older homes with three-story dormers. The prep comes first, and on an older house it is most of the job. Peeling paint comes off, rotted boards get replaced and seams get caulked before any finish goes on. Every exterior house painting job carries a three-year warranty.

How long will an exterior paint job last?
The prep under the paint decides it. We scrape off what is peeling, sand, replace rotted boards, caulk the seams and prime before a finish coat goes on. Every exterior paint job carries a three-year warranty.
Process
How an exterior job goes
We walk every side
We walk around the whole house with you, show you what needs prep and give you a price for the job. The estimate is free.
Prep every wall
Peeling paint gets scraped, bad boards get replaced, seams get caulked and bare spots get primed. On an older house this is most of the job.
Mask, ladder up, paint
Windows get plastic and blue tape, drop cloths go down along the foundation, and ladders go up the walls. Then the finish goes on.
Clean up and walk around
We clean up, then walk around with you to make sure everything is to your satisfaction.

Questions
What homeowners ask about exterior painting
Do you scrape and prime before you paint?
Yes. Scraping, sanding and priming come before any finish coat, and every seam gets caulked. On an older house that prep is most of the job.
Can you paint a tall house?
Yes. Large older homes with three-story dormers are the work we take on, and that includes three-story stucco. We run extension ladders up the wall and mask the windows first.
What do you do about rotted siding or trim?
Bad boards get replaced before any paint goes on. The peeling paint around them is scraped off, the seams are caulked and the bare wood is primed.
Do you stain front doors?
Yes. Front doors get stained and sealed as part of exterior work. We tape off the frame and put a drop cloth down before we start.
How long does it take to paint the outside of a house?
An average two-story home takes one to two weeks. A larger home with a lot of detail takes two to four weeks. The size of the house and the prep decide it.
Can I pick the paint brand?
Yes, as long as it is a quality product. If it is one we would not recommend, we tell you why and what can go wrong. Then it is your call.
